Barão de São João woods has several flora species, typical of a Mediterranean environment, game species, birds, insects and small vertebrates. Here we will find pine woods, but also Wattle woods, and their distinctive biodiversity. We will also find here the beautiful algarvia barrocal. We will talk about the utility of some plants by local communities in the past, and also nowadays. We will search for Mastic trees, a shrub that exist in the Algarve for 15 thousand years and for Gum rockrose and its cosmetic uses. we will also look for the mediterranean dwarf palm tree used in the manufacture of daily objects in the country side since XVI century.

Lets walk, talk and maybe make some traditional crafts!
