Guided tour by Francisco Roxo, local and one of the creators of the three artistic paths present in the Barão de São João Forest: Poets' Path, See the Sea Path and Figures Path. As we go through the three paths, the author explain us the meaning of the works. The walk will also pass through the works created exclusively for the Installation Art of this edition.

NOTE: Bring comfortable clothes and shoes for walking, backpack with water and snacks. The use of walking poles is recommended.

How to get there

By car: Arriving in the city of Lagos, at the Municipal Stadium roundabout, head towards Bensafrim. At Portelas exit, take the EM 531 on the left towards Barão de São João, passing through the Monte Judeu site. Go straight ahead towards Barão de S. João, and after entering the village of Barão de São João you should follow the signs that indicate the Mata Nacional. The Cultural Center is located just before the forest entrance on the left.

Artists

Francisco Roxo

Francisco was born in Angola, in 1959. He lives in Barão de São João since 1976.
He worked as a gardener, after having worked in construction.
He considers himself as an outsider in the community of artists from Barão de São João. He does not have any type of artistic training.
He made his first exhibition in 2012 and accepted the invitation of Deodato Santos to participate in the construction of sculptures for the poets' walk and since then he has participated in exhibitions in Barão de São João.
